Cry

Think of the people you’ve lost, the people you will lose, the hope you’ve lost, the advice you never took, the heartache. Cry for the people who don’t know they’re in trouble, cry for the people you never knew, cry for dead soldiers, dead firemen, dead cops, disfigured babies, the brokenhearted, the people who don’t know God, the people who once knew God, the people who will never know God. Cry once for the mothers who lost their children, the children who lost their mothers, the mothers that never will be, and the mothers that didn’t want to be. Think about the best friend you never had, the worst friend you did have, the hardest thing to do, the best thing to do, the scariest thought ever, the best movie you’ve ever seen. Cry for those killed in car accidents, the cancer patients, the innocent children, the lives taken by cystic fibrosis, those who died alone, the senile, the old, the people with no one to love them. Cry for the drug dealers, the drug addicts, the crack babies. Cry for the dead husbands, the dead wives, the dead siblings, the dead cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, enemies. Cry because you don’t believe in something; cry because you do. Cry because you hurt and because you’re happy. Cry because you don’t care, because you do care, because it doesn’t matter to you. Cry because you’re taking things for granted, because you’re taken for granted, because you’re misunderstood, because you’re perfectly understood, because you can’t understand. Cry because you miss someone, cry because you don’t, because you did, because you will. Cry because your favorite song is on, because you missed it, because you love it. Think of all the people you hurt, the people who hurt you, those you will hurt, those you won’t, those who are hurting, those who have hurt in the past. Think of all the sick, the hopeless, the angry, the bitter, the upset, the lonely. Cry because you can’t imagine, because you can imagine, because you don’t want to imagine, because you never can imagine. Cry because you feel, because you don’t feel, because you can’t feel. Cry because you’re in love, you’re in denial, you’re in too deep. Cry because you can’t find a way out, because you got out, because you can’t get in. Cry because you’re scared, because you’re overjoyed, because you’re alive.

Cry because you can.
