About the Author

MaryJane Wegrzyn has loved writing ever since she can remember.  Born in Syracuse, NY in December of 1986, she began thinking up stories since before she knew how to write.

Her writing interests vary, as she has experience with both fiction and non-fiction, poetry, journalism, and scientific writing.  She primarily writes fictional short stories and poetry/lyrics.  Her lyrics have been set to music and recorded with her band Lost My Shadow.  She also trained for four years in jazz and rock set drumming, as well as playing orchestral percussion.

Most of MaryJane’s writing is in the first person, though she does occasionally write in the third person as well.  An avid blogger, MaryJane also enjoys speaking her mind through the written world about events taking place in everyday life.  Her social commentaries, however, are mostly displayed in her short stories and poetry, which often reflect elements of her personal life.

Some may claim that her writing is incredibly vague in some cases, but this is deliberate on MaryJane’s part.  Some of her pieces are left deliberately vague so that the reader is encouraged and prompted to draw their own conclusions and apply the writing to situations in their own life without feeling as though MaryJane is specifically referencing certain ideas or thoughts that may not apply to everyone.

MaryJane’s other hobbies outside of writing include creating and listening to music, reading, swimming, playing video games, and yelling during hockey season.  She currently lives in Albany, NY, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and a Bachelor of Arts degree in East Asian Studies with a focus on Korean language.  She also has a minor in Mathematics.

Some of her favorite authors include Tim O’Brien, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, and Michael Crichton.
